Product Description

The F40TD TX type plastic disc filter provides a manual cleaning filtration solution for low-flow irrigation systems and residential water treatment applications. With a 1-1/4 inch (1.25 inch) connection size and compact body design, this filter fits installations where space is limited and flow rates are moderate. The TX series design emphasizes straightforward operation and consistent performance, making it suitable for small-scale agricultural setups, municipal garden irrigation, and residential landscape systems.

Constructed from polypropylene plastic, the filter body resists chemical degradation from fertilizers and water treatment compounds commonly used in irrigation systems. The threaded closure system allows tool-free access to the disc element for periodic cleaning. Each unit is produced under ISO 9001 quality management standards and undergoes pressure testing before shipment.

How the Manual Disc Filter Operates

The TX type disc filter uses a stack of precision-grooved polypropylene discs as the filtering medium. Water enters the filter housing and passes through the compressed disc stack from the outside inward. The intersecting grooves on each disc form a three-dimensional filtration matrix that traps suspended solids, sand, silt, and organic particles at the selected micron rating.

As debris accumulates on the disc surfaces, the pressure differential across the filter increases. When flow rate drops noticeably or pressure rises beyond normal operating levels, the user manually opens the threaded lid, removes the disc stack, and rinses the discs with clean water. The depth filtration design means that particles are trapped throughout the disc stack rather than just on the surface, allowing longer service intervals between cleanings compared to surface-type filters. After rinsing, the disc stack is reassembled and the lid is tightened to resume filtration.

Key Features of the F40TD Disc Filter

Depth Filtration Groove Design for Solids Retention

The disc element uses a precision groove pattern that creates depth filtration rather than simple surface screening. Each disc contains multiple V-shaped grooves that trap particles at different depths, increasing the total dirt-holding capacity and extending the time between required cleanings.

Threaded Closure for Safe and Easy Operation

The filter lid uses a threaded closure system that creates a secure seal while remaining easy to open and close without specialized tools. The design includes a gasket in the lid to ensure watertight performance up to the maximum working pressure of 8 bar.

Compact Structure for Limited Space Installation

With its small footprint and lightweight construction (1.01 kg), the F40TD installs easily in tight equipment spaces, pump skids, and irrigation valve boxes. The compact dimensions make this filter suitable for retrofit installations and systems where larger filter housings cannot fit.

Multiple Filtration Grade Options (40-150 Mesh)

The F40TD is available with four filtration grades: 40, 80, 120, and 150 mesh. This range allows users to select the appropriate level of filtration based on source water quality and the type of irrigation equipment being protected. Coarser grades handle higher sediment loads, while finer grades protect sensitive emitters.

Chemical-Resistant PP Plastic Body

Manufactured from polypropylene plastic, the filter housing withstands exposure to common agricultural chemicals, liquid fertilizers, and chlorine-treated water. The material resists UV degradation for outdoor installations and maintains structural integrity across the operating temperature range.

Built-in Pressure Gauge Ports and Drain Connection

The filter body includes two preset ports for installing pressure gauges on the inlet and outlet sides, allowing operators to monitor pressure differential and determine when cleaning is needed. An auxiliary drain connection simplifies flushing and maintenance procedures.

Applications for Plastic Disc Filters in Irrigation Systems

Plastic disc filters serve a wide range of irrigation and water filtration applications. In residential settings, they protect lawn sprinkler systems, garden drip lines, and patio misting systems from sediment damage. Small-scale agricultural operations, including hobby farms, nurseries, and greenhouse operations, use these filters to maintain consistent water quality for crop irrigation.

Municipal and commercial landscape contractors install TX type disc filters in park irrigation systems, roadside greenbelts, and community garden projects. The filters also find use in light industrial applications such as small cooling tower makeup water, equipment wash-down systems, and process water pre-filtration where flow rates fall within the 10 m³/h capacity of the F40TD model.

FAQ About TX Type Disc Filters

How do I clean a manual disc filter?

To clean a TX type disc filter, turn off the upstream water supply, unscrew the threaded lid, and remove the disc stack from the housing. Rinse the discs thoroughly with clean water using a gentle spray to dislodge trapped sediment. Inspect each disc for damage, reassemble the stack, and place it back into the housing. Tighten the lid securely and restore water flow.

What is the maximum flow rate of the F40TD model?

The F40TD model has a maximum flow rate of 10 m³/h (approximately 44 gpm) at the rated working pressure. Actual flow rates depend on water quality, selected filtration grade, and system pressure conditions. For higher flow requirements, the F50TD (14 m³/h) or F63TD-X (20 m³/h) models in the same TX series are available.

What filtration mesh options are available?

The F40TD disc filter is available in four filtration grades: 40 mesh (coarse), 80 mesh (medium), 120 mesh (fine), and 150 mesh (very fine). The appropriate mesh selection depends on source water quality and the sensitivity of downstream equipment. Drip irrigation systems typically use 120 or 150 mesh to protect emitters from clogging.

Can this filter be used with fertilizer injection systems?

Yes, the polypropylene construction of the F40TD filter resists chemical attack from common liquid fertilizers and nutrient solutions used in fertigation systems. When used with fertilizer injectors, install the filter downstream of the injection point to prevent undissolved fertilizer particles from entering the irrigation system.

What is the working pressure rating of the F40TD?

The F40TD disc filter has a working pressure rating of 8 bar (approximately 116 psi). This rating covers most irrigation system operating pressures. The threaded closure with gasket seal maintains watertight performance across the full pressure range.

During the past few decades, we have grown up one of the top Irrigation System provider in China and have dedicated ourselves to developing and manufacturing the qualified agricultural and commercial irrigation products.
